Thermal auricular therapy, or ear candling, is a lovely, gentle treatment and a great addition to your therapy portfolio.
On completion of this unit you will be able to prepare for and provide ear candling ( thermal auricular therapy ) followed by an acupressure facial massage sequence .

You will learn :
- about client care , consultation and aftercare advice
- about safe and hygienic working practices and how to prepare the workspace
- about ear candles - the ingredients and structure of different types of candle .
- the potential benefits, contraindications to, and contra-actions of ear candling.
- how to use and dispose of ear candles safely.
- the anatomy of the ear, the sinuses and the bones of the face.
- how to carry out a facial massage routine and select an appropriate massage medium for the client
- how to evaluate and record treatment results.
Attendance : 1 full day’s initial practical training Further practical assessment and portfolio submission day 4-6 weeks later .
Workload:
There will be a written assignment . workbook and case studies ( one client three times) to complete outwith class. You will build a portfolio of evidence as you progress through the unit, with guidance from your course tutor.
Entry requirements: There are no formal entry requirements, though candidates should be aged 18 +
Additional information: Energise Therapy Training@ TLC will provide ear candles and massage medium for use at the practical training day and for two treatments on the assessment day. You will , however, be required to purchase your own ear candles to carry out your case studies . We can provide a kit on request – please contact us for details. A one-off fee of £16 for lifetime registration with VTCT is payable for those not already registered with VTCT.
Flexible study options:
Energise Therapy Training @TLC offer this subject either as a practical unit only or as the full Level 2 Award in Thermal Auricular Therapy (AB 20120) which incorporates client care and health and safety units . The award requires additional home study and costs an additional £55.
This can be run as a twilight or evening class over four to six evenings - please contact us to arrange this.
Payment for all of our Glasgow therapy training can be made in full , or you can secure your place on the course with a non-refundable deposit of £50 and pay the balance when you attend your training.
