VTCT Level 3 Unit – provide body massage
Swedish massage is a versatile treatment that can relax or invigorate, help to ease out aches and pains, and improve muscle and skin tone. This course , if successfully completed, means you will hold an internationally recognised professional qualification from a major awarding body.
Attendance : The course runs over 5 days from 10 am – 4 pm, with an additional assessment day 6 weeks later.
Entry requirements: No previous qualifications are required for this course. This course is suitable for those over 18 years of age .
You will learn - ·
- the history of massage
- anatomy & physiology
- the effects and benefits of massage
- setting up the work area and working safely and hygienically ·
- about contraindications and special care conditions for massage ·
- client care and how to assess the client for massage ·
- how to carry out consultations and to maintain confidentiality ·
- how to keep records and evaluate treatments ·
- about good working posture. ·
- about massage movements and how to apply them ·
- how to give a full body Swedish massage ·
- how to adapt the massage sequence and pressure to suit clients ·
- how to get feedback from the client ·
- aftercare advice for clients.
Assessment : There will be continuous assessment and feedback as you work through the course and gather evidence of your competence, and a range of assessment methods will be used. These include: ·
two mandatory papers set by VTCT ·
three written assignments and anatomy and physiology workbooks
observation of your practical work ( during the initial training and at the assessment day) ·
completed portfolio of evidence and VTCT assessment book ·
verbal questions ·
case studies ( treatments carried out outwith class and written up )
